Few Free Tips About Your Website That Your Web Developer Hasn’t Told You

August 15th, 2018

Originally this article was prepared by me for the members of US MTV portal. But as I started to go deeper and deeper – I have decided to publish it here.

A dear slave of the mystical sounds of Music:)

I am a web designer and website developer with more than 8 years experience and would like to share few free tips about your websites that your web developer hasn’t told you.

It doesn’t matter how much money you have invested in the development of your website (some people could even retire for those amounts). If it doesn’t show in the 1st page of Google when people are looking for you – you have wasted your money, time and energy.

For example, I personally know a guy who invested 50k euros in his dream business, but didn’t succeed just because his website wasn’t found in the 1st pages of search engines (he went bankrupt after some time without getting any clients and almost no visitors in his website).

Statistics (for an average keyword) – #5 place in Google gives you approx. 6000 unique visitors a month, and #1 place (don’t think so high though) gives more than 50000 unique visitors a month the same time as # 54 will give you max 2 visitors a day (and i am not saying they even will be unique ones).

The only thing you can do – find a reliable company (and I am meaning RELIABLE company not some guys you know) who will do search engine optimisation for you, but:

  1. make a contract – what they promise (ranking in the 1st page of Google after your keywords, quality backlinks, time period etc.)
  2. do not pay more than 30% upfront – before the job is done. If they refuse – there are 100-s of good SEO firms out there who will accept these terms. Show them the money (30%) and they will agree;)
  3. write down all the information the SEO firm has requested and provide it as soon as possible.
  4. When You make a contract with SEO firm – do not agree for monthly payments – you should go only for 1 fixed payment for this particular job – they should get you in the 1st page of Google (do not forget the main reason you went to them – as they will try to sell more services to you as all the businesses do).
  5. And say to them – You want the work to be dome MANUALLY (very important point as using different systems can and will do the opposite). Remember – bad seo firms and especially IT students do not work manually (and they will try to pursue you that that is the best and cheapest way for a top place in Google – don’t go for it).

It may sound harsh, but remember – the reality is that 97% of all the websites (good or bad) are not functional, just because they are not having any visitors. And that is the fault of website owners – if you see something is not as good as planned – change the service provider or loose the money and your future possibilities.

This is never about the thing how nice or smart seems the website developer – it is always about your site – it has to bring you more fans and make you money…

Hopefully this will help You,

Finding Professional Web Development Services

August 14th, 2018

Every new and small business owner is at least generally aware of the need to have an Internet site for their business. Creating the site without professional web development services can work if the skills are present, but with the professional support the site can quickly become a time consuming nightmare when the business should be the focus of the owner. There are several things to consider when looking for a professional.

The first issue is cost. Many companies are prone to hiring a family member to create the site to save money. While this seems like a good idea in the beginning, very quickly the family member will grow tired of having to constantly make changes to satisfy the owner’s needs and the frustration with an incomplete site begins to emerge.

Looking for a professional includes asking for references and portfolios. The true professional will have a series of sites and examples that can be viewed and even used to see what features the designer is able to make. Without the portfolio the type of site may be left up in the air, again causing frustration.

Many designers will also agree to setup the domain and hosting services needed. The domain is the actual address that begins with www. The hosting provides a place for the domain to reside. This is required in order for a site to be found on the Internet.

Many designers also have the ability to create the needed graphics for the website. If they do not, they usually have a relationship with someone who can provide these for the owner. In many cases, a photo of the retail location, logo, or other graphics are needed to provide a great presence for the company.

When the site is created, the job does not end. Part of the initial conversation should include what is available regarding site maintenance when completed. Many companies need to have a photo gallery to show their wares, or a shopping cart for sales. These will need to be continually updated after the initial site goes live. Setting a price for ongoing maintenance is best done prior to signing a contract.

When the site is live it is time to begin combining the traditional advertising with the site. Include the domain name in all advertisements, business cards, stationary, and any signs on the building or company vehicles. Just making the site does not guarantee people will visit. But, if people know the site is available, they will check out the products and services long before they ever visit the actual retail location.

Having a website available for people to view before they visit the retail location helps make the sales easier when they do. The customer who has already reviewed the products and services is visiting or calling because they want to purchase. Making sure the web development services are professional and the site is completed on a timely basis is important to get the company online and functioning in the Internet as efficiently as possible. Without a presence on the Internet, a business can be missed because people use the Internet to find what they are looking for more than any other method.

Working With a Web Developer – Weighing Temperament and Expenditure

August 13th, 2018

There are variants, when working with a web developer may be advantageous, depending on requirements and necessity.  Though you may find this journey to be a dubious course, and after weighing temperament and expenditure, consider these invaluable tips of caution.

A need for access and control

Your access of your site is an issue, or will become one after it is made. The frequent need for maintenance, targeting and testing your links, trying out new tweaks can become quite an expenditure, when paying someone else each time you want to update, revise, or try something fresh.  If having complete access and control fits your expectation, then making your own website, which includes timely access and control will be more to your favor.

Works best solo

You may find working with someone else, especially when you have to check, approve, and confirm all manner of application before proceeding, to be a tedious, and stressful relationship.  At best when working with a web developer, some kind of rapport which may initially be in place, can become strained, and volatile.  If you require doing things on your own time, the moment you are ready, exactly to your specification as often as required, then working solo may be for you.  If you do not know html coding and are ready to make your site, then a site builder, or similar tool, with no technology required, may be for you.  Here you have total access and control over your web endeavors.

Requires an overview of expenditure

When you expect, and require each cost incurred to be itemized before a project, and do not like add on, surprises, or variations of exceeded charges, you may relish the concept of incurring no charges.  In this light, you can customize, update, test, and implicate your site at each level, for little more cost than your time.  This path of action bears no consequence.

Is not realistic about perfection

Somewhere there is the perfection stymie for some of us.  If you strive for each word, idea, and assumption to be exact, as you envisioned or you necessitate frequent revisions, then doing it yourself is a worthy endeavor.  Often the initial web design, in exuberance can appear to fit your requirements, then as suddenly be solely lacking in your expectation.  And frequent maintenance and revision is common place in establishing a creditable web presence.

Freedom, and easy application are powerful allies, and if your temperament and expenditure is one that demands these truths, then having website flexibility will assuredly be to your liking.  It is all about access, control and choice!
